Roller Skating
One of my neighbors is a med student also (a year ahead of me), and happens to also have a daughter right about Kaira's age. We took them out to go roller skating together one weekend. I didn't get any pictures of Kaira with her friend, Phoenix, but got a couple of her skating by herself... I didn't take many pictures - was afraid to carry the camera while skating for fear of falling and breaking it!
Soccer
Kaira has been wanting to play soccer for a while, and I finally gave in and let her have a shot at it. And yes, that officially makes me a soccer mom :( Turns out she is pretty darn good at it... even made a pretty impressive score in her first game - she had barely passed the mid-field line and kicked the ball hard... went straight into the goal!!
The first couple of pictures are from a practice, and the rest are from the first couple games...

Girl Scout Party
The end-of-the-year party for Kaira's Girl Scout troop was supposed to be at the beginning of the summer, but because of conflicting summer schedules, they ended up postponing the party. We finally had it at the beginning of the school year since everyone was back in town. They went to a party place in town that has games and a playland inside, and race cars, batting cages, super slide, etc outside. They each got a bunch of tokens to go play games, then several turns on the super slide, and a ride on the race cars. Then we all met back up inside for pizza.

Karen's Stuff
School is going well so far. We started back in July - yes, each year starts earlier and earlier til we have no summer at all. My school does a systems-based curriculum, and with each system (Cardio, Renal, Blood&Lymph, etc) we learn EVERYTHING that goes with that system... the anatomy, pathology, histology, pharmacology, etc. At the end of 1st year, we started with Neuro and Musculoskeletal. We started off second year with Micro (Microbiology & Infectious Disease)... basically all of the critters that can make you sick - bacteria, viruses, parasites, helminths. Also things like all of the antibiotics and antivirals to treat them, and vaccines to prevent them. There was a LOT of material to learn, and that definitely wasn't easy. But the worst part about Micro was the fact that there was a test EVERY Monday. So we would spend all weekend cramming for the test, then after the test we would go straight back into lecture, and already have more stuff to study by Monday night... we literally did not have a single day off for almost 8 weeks! It was thoroughly exhausting. But it is over!! At the end each block, we have a Post Test Party as a class to celebrate making it through. We voted on which of our 'favorite' viruses we were going to dress as... Bunyaviridae (Bunnies), Togaviridae (togas), etc... and togas won. So we had a big toga party. These are a couple pictures from that night of us in our togas.
